Myanmar has had a long journey on the road to reform and is now opening up to the world, but in many areas there is a glorious remoteness to the place. It’s a place of stunning contrasts: vast plains of temples to large isolated villages; traditions are still revered, and the reality of everyday life is refreshing.
We have travelled throughout Myanmar including both the more well known highlights to the more obscure attractions, so we will be able to prepare an exactly right holiday experience for you whether you want to be immersed in culture, cruise the life-giving Ayeyarwady River, or lose yourself in areas that have hardly changed at all.
Be prepared for spectacular scenery and as many natural aspects as you can imagine; from the hilly highlands in the northern areas through to the astounding islands of the Myeik Archipelago in the south, the scenery is quite unique. The river links Mandalay with the extraordinary temples in Bagan of which there are over 3,000 stupas rising from the plains.
There are existing elements of colonial past in cities like Yangon, however you travel into the hill country the village life often remains unbroken from a past unacknowledged.
However, the most rewarding aspect of travelling in Myanmar are the people. Their hospitality, warmth and spirit is something that will remain with you well after you have left.
