Angkor Wat is a big temple in Cambodia near Siem Reap. It was built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II. This place has over a thousand buildings and is known for its beauty and history. Angkor Wat is the largest religious structure globally, covering a vast area of about 400 acres.
Back in the day, Angkor was the main city where Khmer kings ruled a powerful kingdom in Southeast Asia. From the late 9th to the early 13th century, they built many things, but Angkor Wat was the most famous project. It was made by King Suryavarman II as a huge temple where he wanted to be buried. It took around thirty years to finish building it.
