Best Time to Visit Indonesia: When to Go & What to Expect
With a tropical climate, Indonesia is an all-year-round destination, but in general the best weather will probably be between April and October. The drier months are obviously perfect for hopping around the islands, spending lazy days on the beach, and checking out the coral reefs at least with a snorkel or dive mask.
However, if you are planning a cruise around Raja Ampat, the best time to visit is actually during the wet season, from October to April, which is when the sea conditions are calmest and when you will spot the most sea life. Also, while you are cruising around this remote archipelago off the coast of Papua, you will encounter an abundance of unusual wildlife from the birds of paradise in the jungle canopy to tiny seahorses in coral gardens.
While there is more likely to be rain between November and March, particularly on Java and Bali, you are rewarded with lush green scenery, cooler places to escape to in the highlands and temples to wander around in less crowded and more atmospheric settings.
